Lyrics

My Own Icarus

My Own Icarus

Lyrics

We are all the same, but somehow different
We wander thought his world, some of us stay effervescent
Some of us we find hard times, can’t shine
Trapped in our minds, no one else can see the signs
When I look back and see where we started from
I see a summer haze, a youth that’s all bubblegum
As times go by our memories fade
I reminisce of a kiss with a girl I laid
Youth is so confusing
Love is so consuming
When we laughed I forgot all the pain I’m used to
Laying under the stars life seemed so long
Until you’re staring down the barrel and your life’s all gone

Chorus:

Can I take the pain away?
I’m on fire then I’m drowning
I’ve lived my life this way
Too much hubris to let you in

It’s a mirage
I want someone who sees through the visage
Caught up in these mind games
I can’t read the collage
Is it too late for me?
I don’t know
I hold on to what I don’t have and can’t grow
But some say you regret what you never did
What if I regret how I’ve always lived?
I’m never satisfied
I can’t speak and though I’ve tried
I’m hooked on mind games, nostalgia and a better life
Maybe this is as good as it’ll ever get?
Maybe I should stop trying to forget
Anxiety, torture and a new distain
Some lives leave a mark but most just leave a stain

Chorus:

Can I take the pain away?
I’m on fire then I’m drowning
I’ve lived my life this way
Too much hubris to let you in
